Golfing legend is presented with Honourary Membership Card
The Station Masters Golf Club first ever honourary member, Mr Peter Alliss, took time out of his hectic Open schedule to graciously accept his Honourary Membership Card. Peter met with representatives of the Committee minutes after the final putt had been sunk in the Championship play-off and chatted and signed autographs before being whisked off to another engagement at Muirfield later in the evening. Peter had hoped to meet with our members earlier in the

week, but TV production schedules and other commitments made this impossible. Despite what you may have read in the local and national press, no other arrangements were made with Peter and he did not 'stand us up' as some so-called reporters would like to think. In the event, Peter made mention of our Club and the Station Hotel in his commentary and throughout his time on-air, frequently heaped praise on the course, the Town and the surrounding area, which is bound to have a marked effect on tourism in Angus. Peter has said he looks forward to visiting in the future when he will have more time to meet with our members. We look forward to welcoming him.
Weekly sweepies still taking place
The Buddon Course officially doesn't come back 'on-stream' till sometime in August (forgotten the exact date). Until it does we will still be holding weekly sweepies on all courses as usual, but competition scores will be suspended on the Buddon Course, which means your handicap will not be affected no matter how bad (or good for that matter) you score. We will keep you informed when things are back to normal. The August monthly medal will probably be played at the end of August or the beginning of September. (Keep watching this space - or the notice-board for a change).
New temporary advice spot hits the site
Following Steve Logan's announcement of his 6 week sabbatical, local expert gardener, erstwhile plumber and no bad fiddler, Tommy Horne, jumped at the chance to get one over on his old gardening rival Captain Campbell. When invited to guest his own gardening tips spot on our website, Tommy claimed * Wattie kens bu--er all aboot gerdnin. He uses his greenhoose for siestas in the efternin". Tommy's gardening tips can be found on Tommy's Gardening Tips page.
