Country Members Cup winner

The first Club Championship Trophy of the season has been won by veteran John Gamack. The Country Members Cup (affectionately referred to as the Pensioner's Trophy), was contested this week over the Buddon Links by the youthfully challenged pairing of John (hedgeman) Gamack and Brian (pieman) Wardrope. The trophy, graciously donated by country member Graham McGee, is played for by the the more elderly membership of the Club. The popular duo slugged it out over the first few holes with little to show between the two, with neither 'setting the heather on fire'. Referee, Peter Coutie, had his work cut out to stay focussed until the 11th hole when Gamack drilled an amazing 35 foot putt, which if it hadn't hit the hole and dropped, would have been another 35 feet past. This then, was the writing on the wall for Wardrope who never recovered and eventually ran out a 4 and 3 loser. He does however have a chance of revenge when he and Matt Edmond take on John (Gamack that is - not Jeans) and Tam (specky weegie) Paterson, later in the week in the semi-final of the Foursomes.

Best of luck to all!
